Car collectors will sometimes look for specific auto parts when buying a car and those parts are the underlying factor with their decision.  For instance, if a customer is looking for a Garrett T3 Turbocharger they will soon find that they are bombarded with a bunch of decisions.  For example, both the Subaru Turbocharger for the WRX and the Volkswagen Turbocharger for the GTI are Garrett T3 turbochargers.  However, the Subaru WRX is a sedan and the GTI is a hatchback…  Most car owners prefer specific style of vehicle and tend to stay with that design.   However, some people are torn between the two.
The hatchback vehicle is considered a smaller station wagon.   Typically, when you think of a station wagon one will think of a soccer mom driving her kids to school with a fully packed car.  However, hatchback lovers think differently.  Very popular in places like Europe, the hatchback is admired for its MPG, handling, storage space, ease of parking, and sporty looks.
The Sedan style vehicle is way more popular in the US than the hatchback.  Sedans have 4 doors and are ideal for passenger comfort.  Sedans can also be a bit more expensive than hatchbacks because of the longer body and backseat features for passengers.  Although comfortable, many car collectors or racers in the US will still prefer a hatchback over a sedan because the hatchback is bringing something different to the table.
Ultimately, the decision between a hatchback and a sedan comes down to many variables.  Some people even consider it a “lifestyle choice.”  Personal preference for one of the two can be because of price, interior, storage, popularity, handling, MPG, comfort and so on.  Hatchbacks can be great for their storage size, but at the same time, you can’t beat the Sedan’s comfort.  The choice is in your hands.
